Crowns and Bridges

Crowns and Bridges

Missing teeth can negatively affect a person’s aesthetic, deteriorate bite function, and impact self-image. At Knoxville Dental Center, Dr. Hubbell Williams, wants his patients to feel confident when showcasing their smile. Crowns and bridges repair damage and replace missing teeth to improve appearance and oral health.

To take the next step to achieve your ideal smile, contact our dental practice to receive natural-looking crowns and bridges that blend in with surrounding teeth.

Crowns

Also known as a cap, crowns encase a weakened or damaged tooth to improve dental function. Dr. Williams usually recommends this restoration to teeth that have sustained an injury, severe decay, or have a large, faulty filling. Crowns are also used to complete root canal treatment or to conceal dental imperfections.

Our Powell dental practice utilizes modern techniques and advanced technology to fabricate a patient’s restoration. By only using state-of-the-art methods our dentist ensures that our crowns mimic natural enamel to create a uniform smile.

Obtaining a cap from our office usually requires two separate visits. During the first appointment, our team takes an impression of your dental anatomy using a 3D scanner. This technology gathers thorough details to send to a trusted lab so they may craft your crown and send it back within one to two weeks. Dr. Williams then places the permanent restoration, improving aesthetic and function.

Bridges

Knoxville Dental Center uses ceramic materials to fabricate each patient’s fixed bridge. These prosthetics replace one or more missing teeth in a row. The artificial teeth offered by our Powell practice strengthen a patient’s bite and boost their appearance. Bridges are supported by healthy neighboring teeth to provide desirable cosmetic results.

Similar to receiving a crown, getting a porcelain bridge requires two separate appointments. The first focuses on getting details of the patient’s smile while the second is the placement of the bridge and adjusting it to ensure proper fit. Patients may have to schedule occasional practice visits so our dentist can alter their prosthetic.

Implant-supported Crowns and Bridges

Crowns and bridges do well to restore the visual aspects of the smile but do not maintain underlying dental structures. Dental implants do not require the alteration of surrounding teeth as they gain their stability directly from the jaw. Implant treatment is a permanent option to replace missing teeth, allowing patients to achieve beautiful, healthy smiles lasting a lifetime.
